Best Practices | Creating a Product / Service Listing. Creating a product or service listing is the first step in getting your item in front of buyers. When listing your item with Found in Italy, start by describing what you're selling. You need to add photos and physical details, and variants about the item or service. A product or service listing should include clarity within the following areas: item descriptions, item conditions, specifics and variants, product identifiers and product images. Item Descriptions: How to write product descriptions A perfect item description is clear enough to tell your buyer what they need to know at a scan and yet detailed enough so that there can be no confusion around exactly what they're buying. Write product descriptions that inform and persuade your customers. Be sure to include: Your item's key selling points Exactly what you include in the sale. For example, if you're selling handmade shoes, polos and shirts, list the materials used to create the pieces. Complete sentences with correct spelling and punctuation throughout Appeal to your reader's imagination: Scientific research has proven that if people hold a product in their hands, their desire to own it increases. You’re selling online, so your web visitors can’t keep your products. Large, crystal clear pictures or videos can help, but there’s also a copywriting trick to increase desire: let your reader imagine what it would be like to own your product. Item Conditions: New or Pre-Loved? If items are new, you do not have to mention that the product comes with tags and was never used. However, you can sell almost anything on Found in Italy, from brand new products to items with wear and tear signs to vintage & pre-loved. It's vital you're honest and accurate about the condition of what you're selling so your buyer knows exactly what they're getting. Your options for describing your item's condition vary by category. Some of your options include: New – A brand-new, unused, and unworn item (including handmade items) in the original packaging Certified refurbished – A tech item in like-new condition, refurbished by the manufacturer. The item will be in new packaging with original or new/unique accessories Pre-Loved / Used – An item that has been previously used. The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear but is fully operational and functions as intended Item Specifics and Variants: Item specifics may include relevant information about the item or services you're selling. We strongly recommend providing as many of these specifics as possible to ensure that your item gets maximum visibility on both Found in Italy and its external Shopping affiliates sites. These specifics and variants can include: Size Type Color Style Product Identifiers: Product identifiers are essentially unique codes used to identify a specific product. Most new and refurbished branded items have product identifiers on their packaging. These identifiers can include: Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) Universal Purchase Code (UPC) International Standard Book Number (ISBN) Manufacturer Part Number (MPN) Main Product Image Requirements: Every product on Found in Italy needs one or more product images. The primary image of your product is called the "MAIN." The MAIN image displays for a product in the search results and browse pages and is the first image customers see on product detail pages. Images are essential to customers, so quality matters. Choose images that are clear, easy to understand, information-rich, and attractively presented. Images must accurately represent the product and show only the product or service that is for sale. The product and all its features must be clearly visible. MAIN images should have a pure white background (pure white blends in with the Found in Italy’s search and product detail pages—RGB color values of 255, 255, 255). MAIN images must be professional photographs of the actual product (graphics, illustrations, mockups, or placeholders are not allowed). They must not show excluded accessories; props that might confuse the customer; text that is not part of the product; or logos, watermarks, or inset images. Images must match the product title. Images should be 1,600 pixels or larger on the longest side. This minimum size requirement enables the zoom function on the website. Zoom has been proven to enhance sales. Images must not exceed 10,000 pixels on the longest side. Found in Italy accepts JPEG (.jpg), PNG.(.png) file formats, but JPEG is preferred. Our servers do not support animated .gifs. or videos. Images must not contain nudity or be sexually suggestive. Shoes MAIN images should be of a single shoe, facing left at a 45-degree angle. Additional Images for Product Listings: upload up to 10 images to your Found in Italy listing. Show off your product from multiple angles Show your product in use in an appropriate indoor or outdoor setting Mix up the backgrounds in your additional images for visual interest Do not add special effects infographics and overlaid or any text on images Do not use props of unauthorized brands or manufactures in images
